If rumor mills are to be believed, Apple is planning to announce a new, redesigned MacBook Air in 2022, which will feature a 13.3-inch Mini LED display. According to the sources, the new MacBook Air will have a smaller display than the other MacBook Pro models that are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch variants.

The new Mini LED display technology in the MacBook Air 13 has been designed to give many of the same benefits provided by OLED. These benefits include improved dynamic range and better contrast levels. This technology was first featured in Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which was launched this year. Sources say that around six or seven Apple devices are expected to get new display upgrades this year. These might include the 14.1-inch MacBook Pro, the 27-inch iMac Pro, the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 7.9-inch iPad Mini, and the 10.2-inch iPad.

Besides the new display technology, the new MacBook Air is also expected to feature a lighter and thinner design, two USB 4 ports, and MagSafe charging. It will most likely be powered by a successor to the 2021 M1 processor, an M2 chip. This chip will have an increased number of GPU cores and will allow the device to run at faster speeds.

Apple is expected to release the new MacBook Air sometime around the middle of 2022, which is indicative of an April release like it was done this year. This MacBook Air is expected to come out in multiple colors as well.
