There are not many holes in the offense of the Boston Red Sox. However, that has not deterred Chaim Bloom, their chief baseball officer from exploring his choices.

The Red Sox and Bloom have expressed their desire to trade for the outfielder of Miami Marlins Starling Marte, according to a report by Sean McAdam from the Boston Sports Journal.

However, it seems that the Boston Red Sox will have a lot of competition for this 32-year-old veteran player. McAdam has reported that San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies have all got in touch with Miami about Marte. The player is a great defensive center fielder and is batting .303 in the current season.

Red Sox may have to give up promising players

Meanwhile, the Red Sox has a powerful center field player this year from Kike Hernandez. They also have a promising new talent in the form of Jarren Dura. Duran has scored 6 runs in 7 games and has made 6 starts in the center field.

On the other hand, Marte is an established talent who could give a sturdy table-setter to Boston. He has had a career batting average of .288 over ten seasons, as well as, a base-stealing threat this year. Marte will also emerge as a free agent after his 3.1 million USD contract ends this year. As such, he will be a good rental choice for Bloom and the Red Sox.

There is a possibility of the Red Sox to part ways with young talent for acquiring Marte. The team may have to risk losing players or trade prospects such as Brayan Bello and Gilberto Jimenez.
